Cap Stage Now Playing

A Message from the Artistic Director

Welcome to Season Six at Capital Stage! This year our commitment to bringing the hottest, boldest new plays of the modern theatre to Sacramento is stronger than ever. We’re calling our 2010-11 season the “Season of Premieres” with each of the five plays in our main series making its Sacramento debut.

What can you expect when you take a seat at a Capital Stage production? At Capital Stage, we believe that it’s our job to surprise you, to bring you a fresh adventure every time you walk into our theatre, while consistently telling dynamic stories with Capital Stage’s signature intimacy and intensity. Sitting within eight rows of the action on our stage and watching the top actors in the region, you can’t help but feel the heart and soul of the story as we create a visceral theatrical experience.

We find ourselves in a time when community is becoming increasingly more important. At the theatre, we have the opportunity to come together to have our spirits replenished, our minds challenged, and our souls nourished. In a large and growing urban environment, where individuals and groups are constantly bombarded with information and demands for decisions, has the need for bold, thought-provoking live theatre ever been greater?

With that in mind, I invite you to join us on this season’s adventurous journey. From the taut, pulsating plot of Theresa Rebeck’s Mauritius to the fascinatingly flawed characters of Neil LaBute’s reasons to be pretty, from the mesmerizing theatricality of Terrence McNally’s Tony Award-winning Master Class to the razor sharp wit of Liz Duffy Adam’s Or, together we’ll experience the passion, humor and heart that make-up the best of today’s American theatre.

You won’t want to miss a single moment in our 2010-11 Season of Premieres!

Best,

Stephanie Gularte
